How to get all the money I can for college??

I am currently in college now at a community college. My dad has taken out a student loan to pay for it. He told me that if I want to go to a university I would have to pay for this myself, since during that time I move on to a university my sister will be going to college and he will pay for hers. I have heard of pell grants, is that where you apply for money? I need to know ways to get as much money as i can without having to pay it back. Also since I am 18, will I be able to apply for one and list that I have no income (In highschool when we applied for grants we were always denied bc my dads income was too high) so can I do this to get money for school?? and where do i apply for these things and when? I plan on attending a university in the 2009/2010 year.

this is the application for Pell grants and student loans in your name.

Unfortunately, you will still have to report your parents income until you are 24 years old, married or a couple of other things despite your Dad’s right to refuse to pay. (It doesn’t matter you live with him or not, if he claims you on his tax forms, or he refuses to pay for your education).

You will have to take out student loans if dad’s income is too high to qualify for grants. DON’T BE DISCOURAGED you were turned down for grants last year. With TWO kids in college next year, your chances will be MUCH BETTER!

Also, the max you can borrow per year when you are a junior is 5,500 and 5,500 again as a senior. Here is a good book about the grants, why you have to report your parents income, and the loan maximums.

You need to start looking for SCHOLARSHIPS.
Good luck.
