What impact will marriage on my Student Loan Payments?
Hey Everyone…I’m freaking OUT!!! I’m planning to propose in a couple months to the most wonderful woman in the world. I’m a social work student(in other words far from rich) and I will have a HUGE amount of debt when I get out. (we wont tie the knot until i graduate). I have consolidated with the fed student loans and i was playing around with their caluculator. When I did it as a single person, my payments were fairly reasonable, but when I did it as a married…they were HUGE!!!
if i get married, is there anyway to pay back the loans as a single person? this sux….i dont know if it’s worth it to add this burden to her. Please help!!!
Your getting married should have no impact on your student loan, it is in your name. If they try to make you make bigger payments because of your marital status contact a lawyer, your wife has nothing to do with your student loans they are in your name not hers.
