Establishing a complete democracy?

                   Dalip Singh Wasan, Advocate.

We are declaring that we are the largest democracy in the world.  But when we conduct an introspection, we come to the conclusion that the people ruling over us are not people from amongst the common people.  They are a separate class having no concern and connection with the people of India.  They had joined this class before the British actually left India and the British, very cautiously and very cunningly handed over the rule in their hands.  The people taking over the charge from the British were never willing to adopt true democracy in India and with target in view, they turned the people as voters and took over the charge with a view that they shall rule like rajas, maharajas, monarchs and the imperialists and it is on record that they are behaving like the old rulers and they utilize the people only when they are demanding their votes to show the world that they are keeping the democracy alive.

The people who are ruling us are not interested in the welfare of the people and that is the reason all the problems of the people which were available with them prior to independence are still alive and some of the problems have become more complicated and complex.  The people are still illiterate, untrained, unemployed and because of these three shortcoming they are poor and are not in a position to administer their families.  They are not living a life and are not even halfway.  They cannot speak nor they can demand something from the state because when they speak, they are given severe beating and some are caught and sent to jails for long terms.  If we conduct a suvery of jails, we shall find that small fries are detained there and it seems the rich and the powerful people do not commit a crime.

India is a rich country, but our all resources are not exploited nor utilized for the welfare of the people and whatever wealth these poor people is collected by the people in power through scams, scandals, muddles, bribes, higher prices, corruption, sale of quotas and licenses, sale of jobs etc. etc. and we have been informed that much money so collected is kept in secret accounts in Swiss banks.  None from India is confiscating this money and bringing back this money to be deposited in state exchequer  from where the actual owners could get the same by giving true and acceptable accounts.

This time we are noting that only crorepattis are filing nominations and this mean when we shall be having our Parliament in session, only rich people or lords shall be there and we cannot expect justice from these people because rich people cannot take care of the poor.  The rich people do not know that problems are with the poor people and how those problems should be solved.  The methods deployed by the rich people are surprising because they are giving free food to the children in schools, they are distributing books and items of stationery free to school going children, some time they are given stipend, sometime the state starts giving ration on low price and sometime they waive loans.  They are turning the people beggars.  They failed to establish the people at their own feet because they could not provide proper education, proper training and proper employment to all from where they could carry proper wages with which they could run their own families on right way.  They could not teach the people to catch the fish and they are giving some parts of the fish to the people in charity and this is not the right course for handling the problems of the people of India.  People of India want to stand at their own legs and they do not want that the state may help them and turn them as beggars.

We want that a complete democracy be established in India, but these crorepattis shall not allow us to change because they had taken up the charge from the British and they shall keep us slave.  Democracy must show that it is a government of the people, means common people, must be by the  people and for the people.  The present set means government of the rich, by the rich and for the rich and that is the rich, rich are turning more rich and poor are being reduced to more poverty.  The right people must sit and raise the common man from mere voter to that of a ruler.  Under the present situations such achievements shall not be there.
