i have no job, bad credit and am looking to goto school. Is financial aid available for me?
I owe 20,000, have a child and a family, and am layed off from a job. I am 40 years old. I might file for bankruptcy(i don’t have any family willing to loan me money). I need to get an education and go back to school, but I dont know much about financial aid. Can someone like me get it? If not, are there any options for me? I didnt go to college. Thanks
My credit cards have be delinquent for about a year.
I applaud your motivation to go back to school in these tough economic times, and encourage you to ‘hang in there’. I’ve been through some tough times such as you’re going through (no job, single parent, about the same age at that time, and believe me, you CAN climb out of the hole you feel you’re in right now.
And the best part is: No worries, financial aid is available for most everyone!
Figure out what you want to go to school for, and where, and go to
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov – - – SOON, to apply for student loans. Then, once you do that, search for scholarships specifically geared for people in your situation and for your degree / diploma program. A good scholarship search site is http://www.fastweb.com
Good luck, and you CAN do it. Perhaps you can work part-time at a ‘no-brainer’ job in the meantime to help stay on top of your bills?
