Question about Fafsa.?

ok, I applied for a fafsa last year when I was living at home with my parents and I was denied based that my parents made too much money, as did I. Since then things in my life have changed. I moved to Florida and am staying with my grandmother who is retired living on social security. My question is will I have a better chance of being granted Financial aid with this current situtaion? I and unemployed and looking for a p/t job to pay the few bills that I do have. And also whether I get accepted for federal aid or not, I have horrible credit as most young people do. (I’m 22) Will my credit score affect my chances of getting student loans? I want nothing more then to get into college to further my education to be a successful member of society. Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Also I want to be a Dentail Hygienist, if that information matters.

No, the change in your living situation will not change your dependency status. Simply not living with your parent(s) does not change that, nor does your grandmother’s income. However, if you are considered a dislocated worker (laid off due to the economy, if you can collect unemployment benefits you may be, ask unemployment), that may change your eligibility somewhat. A greater impact would be felt if your parent is dislocated, though.

Your credit score will only affect your financial aid if you are applying for an alternative loan.
