Loan forgiveness teaching at a foreign university or being a law student?
Two questions about the loan forgiveness program. I owe about 80,000 with a masters degree. I’m considering taking a teaching job at a major university in China. It pays $650 per month plus free living expenses. Does this count for the 10 years needed for loan forgiveness? And what happens if I go to law school? Do those 3 years count for anything?
Are you in the US?
In the US returning to school would only DEFER your loans. You’d still have to pay once you graduated.
The US Dept of Ed also has some loan forgiveness programs for teachers, but you must teach in the US at an underprivledged school or if you teach math or science at the HS level but none of these program will forgive more than 20k and they are very limited.
