New roomate = higher household income = no help?
I am a full time student with no job. I am paying my own way through school with loans and some state/federal grans.
I had 1 roomate (also unemployed), but now his GF moved in with us and she has a high paying job.
If I report her income as household income, I will lose my grants and medical insurance, but it isn’t like she is going to give me money for these things.
Do I have to get my own place to keep getting tuition help etc.?
Can you provide an official source?
Generally roommates are not part of your household, and you do not have to report their income as part of your household income. You do not have access to their money when paying for your expenses, right?
The only difference in your new situation might be your share of the total rent, if you now decide to split it 3-ways.
