I’m interested in getting a subsidized government school loan for the spring of 2010.
Because I’ve surpassed 90 credit hours (working on a new degree now) I’m no longer eligible for the Pell grant at my community college. I was told though that if I transfer to a four year state college the grant might be reinstated. Currently though I’m interested in getting a government subsidized loan for the spring of 2010.
I’ve submitted a FAFSA for the 2008-2009 year. How do I proceed to get a subsidized loan for the community college I’m attending in the spring 2010? Fill out the 2009-2010 FAFSA, or is it too late? I’ve called their campus financial aid office for help but they still have not returned my phone calls.
You will fill out your FAFSA like you normally would. The FAFSA does not only help you obtain Pell Grants, but it also allows you to be eligible for loans (both subsidized and un-sub). I don’t think that it is too late to apply for spring, but once you talk to your financial aid department, you will want to confirm. I would go ahead and fill out the FAFSA the sooner the better.
Best of luck!
