how to get loan/scholarship/money for school balance that was sent to collection?

I went to university of maryland for two years between 2001-03. I enrolled without make payment arrangement. the unpaid balance was sent to collections and without paying that balance in full I can’t reenroll in school. currently I am not in school. the balance I have with the collections is around $17000. where can I get a loan to pay off the collections so I can reenroll in school?

I would call University of Maryland’s Finance Services, explain the situation, and let them know that you would like to make payment arrangements. Most schools are concerned about collecting the money, and will work with you. Only work with the collection agency as the last result. The original creditor (University of Maryland) can clear up the issue faster and without further damaging your credit.
