Is it worth it going to medical school?

I’m going through the application motions now, but I’m starting to wonder: Is it worth it?

60k a year in loans, then residency & fellowship, only to make peanuts with the new Obama medical plan?

Only to get sued by trail lawyers? Am I insane to want to do this?

If you are truly passionate about medicine and have potential, then I think it is. However, if you are simply jumping into it (which I doubt you are!), you might want to re-think your decision. I plan on going to med school, but I have been re-considering career paths because of Obama’s socialistic new medical plan that will limit doctors’ pay, which is very discouraging. But if you think you have what it takes, you should go. Also, another factor to consider is that studies have shown that the more degrees a person has, the more money he will make. So for example, a person with a masters is more likely to make more money than and undergrad. You probably knew that, but it’s just something more to consider. Perhaps you should wait a while before you decide. I know someone who spent two years in Europe before she decided to go to Med School. She has turned out to be a brilliant surgeon. Whatever you choose, I know it will be the right decision. I hope this helped!
