I’m trying to buy my first house but….?
I really need to raise my credit score about 65 points before I can get a really good home loan rate…how could I go about doing this? I only have student loan debt, which I am still in school so I dont have to repay those yet and all of my bills Im current on, but while I was in the dorms, my old room mate stole my credit info and put a 1500 loan that she defaulted on in my name (how she did it I have no idea and Im trying to fnd her now to take her to court about it) and now Im being forced to settle with the creditors to pay it which is causing my credit score to be lower than it should. How can I get my score up to buy this home asap????????Please Help
First off if you contact the credit bearu they might be able to work with you about the roommate deal, did you file a police report? I hope so, people like that should be held responsible! The only thing I can think of is go ahead and pay some on your student loans if you can! or maybe get another credit card (even though they bring up your report and cost you a few points) use it for gas or something and pay the balance in full every month, once you get your score up cancel the card. Just remember that every time you or the bank or who every brings up your credit score it will points!
