Student loan for studying abroad (UCD in Dublin)?

Hi,

I really want to study abroad in Ireland (UCD in Dublin) I’m from the England as was wondering if anyone can help with regards to getting a student loan. I can’t seem to get one as from what I can tell the English government will only provide one for people studying in the UK or EU students wanting to study in England.

Has anyone one been in this same situation and do you know if there is anyway to get a student loan from another place or an equivalent?

Any help would be great as I’m really stuck at the moment. I’ve phoned up a number of different places but they just pass me on to someone else and so on and so on!

Thanks :)

UCD website: http://www.ucd.ie/international/helpadvice5.htm
“At undergraduate degree level, the Irish Government pays tuition fees to the University on behalf of EU students registered at UCD for full-time undergraduate degree programmes (of minimum two years’ duration) who meet all the following criteria:

“EU nationals
With no previous third level attendance
Who have been resident in an EU Member State for three of the five years prior to entry to university.
For more information on the criteria for entitlement to free undergraduate tuition, please go to the UCD Fees Office webpage: www.ucd.ie/fees/.”

if you are only going for a semester/academic year, there are “EU fees,” which are less than “non-EU fees.” The fees are not yet published, but they will be on this site: http://www.ucd.ie/fees/undergraduate.htm (usually around 6000 Euro)

for 2007/8 fees as reference: http://www.ucd.ie/fees/documents/Undergraduate%20fees%202007-8.pdf
