Student loan for UK student studying abroad?
I want to study in Canada and I assumed that I would be able to get student loans as any other UK citizen but I have heard from some that I cannot, whereas from others I have heard that I can.
On student finance wales I used the loan calculator and selected non-UK institution, and it concluded that there is “not enough information” to calculate my entitlement. On student finance direct (the slc for england), apparently I can get tuition fee loans and a maintenance loan of around 5500 per annum.
I suppose I don’t expect the maintenance GRANT (though that would be nice), but surely I could get the loans.
What is the truth on this matter?
Thanks in advance. ![]()
P.S. There is no help/loans for international students in Canada, I have checked ![]()
P.P.S I mean the official loans from the government/Student Loans Company
I could see from HSBC, England the “Professional Studies Loan” they can support you financially up to UK Pounds Sterling 25,000/= and you can check the following website:

You need to talk to them on your confirmed admission in Canada and all other things that they may demand as per their procedure, to get the loan you need.Best of luck to you!
