Psychology Internship in the Air force?

I am a 4th year clinical psychology graduate student considering an internship with the Air Force. My understanding is that I would start out as a Captain, and I would owe an additional 3 years after my initial internship year. Also, after liscensure, I’m eligible for 25,000/year in federal loan forgiveness.

Has anyone served in such a capacity? What was your impression?

I haven’t worked at an Air Force internship, but I did consider it and I’ve talked to people who have.
I have to admit that the money was a big draw. It pays more than twice that of traditional internships and has good benefits. However, I decided not to apply after I discovered that over 75% of new graduates will be deployed overseas for their postdoctoral year. This could be indefinite. I wasn’t interested in being separated from my family that long.
The people who have worked at the Air Force internship have found it to be pretty good. I’ve attended 2 trainings at military internships with some pretty well-known people in the field of psychological testing. So, the training and dydactics appear to be better than you would get elsewhere. You also get a pretty wide range of clients, problems, and experience.
