Out of State University parking ticket?
So, I just got a parking ticket from my California University. I was in a major rush to get to my final and didn’t have time to get my daily permit. So, I just put one of my old permits on the dash and went to my final. Then, i come back less than 2 hours later and I have a $350 dollar fine. I know what I did was wrong, but I always buy the permits and it feels like the one time that I don’t, I get a ticket. I’ve never got a real parking ticket or any violations before.
My car still has its Out of State license plate (Hawaii). I was going to get it registered in California next month, after I do the smog check thing. What will happen if I don’t pay the ticket? Will they be able to trace it back to me if it is from the school parking people? (Its registered under my and my parent’s name in Hawaii). I don’t have the money right now because I am graduating this quarter and still haven’t found a job. Ack! And I’m going to have to pay my student loans. Someone please help!
it depends
Im not sure how Cali goes but in some places like Indiana tickets issued by University cops dont count. But in other places like NY they count as real tickets since they made school cops into being state troopers.
Oh by the way they can hold your transcripts until you pay your ticket!
