If you owe on a student loan can you go back to college or do you have to wait ?
I ATTENDED A PRIVATE COLLEGE IN THE VALLEY AND THEY HAVE YOU TAKE OUT TWO STUDENT LOANS ON TOP OF FINANCIAL AIDE AND GOVERNMENT GRANTS. ITS BEEN SEVERAL YEARS BUT I WAS TOLD THAT YOU CANNOT GET FINANCIAL AIDE IF YOU STILL OWE ON THE LOANS. ALSO FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS THEY HAVE BEEN TAKING MY TAXES AND I THINK THAT IT SHOULD ALMOST BE PAID OFF. I CANNOT GET A PHONE NUMBER OR ADDRESS SO I CAN MAKE PAYMENTS FOR THE PAST DUE BALANCE MYSELF.
Usually there is no problem returning to school if you are currently paying on a student loan, in your situation you might have a default issue due to them taking your tax refunds and you not actually paying. If you are in default you will not be able to receive anymore financial aid but you can return to school. To find out balance and status of your loan as well as current information on loan holder go to www.nslds.ed.gov. If you had a private educational loan it won’t be listed on that website but you should have kept information on disbursements and approvals for the loans.
