Student Loan question – HELP!?

2 years ago I got a student loan from a bank in North Dakota, the school screwed me over with the promised “job placement for life” and since it was a very expensive school I am stuck with the damn loan and no job I cannot pay them.
They refused my request for a deferment because I had one already and they bumped my balance $1,500 up more and I have no idea what to do right now because my husband is the only one working and we have a little baby I cannot afford making payments on a student loan they want $215 a month (15,000 balance). Any suggestions?, I don’t need any rude comments I know get a job and pay it off, but trust me that would be my first choice if i didn’t have a baby.
Thanks guys, Olive Oil yes i finished school thank god :-) its been a little difficult with the baby but I wanted to see if other people had some experience with this type of problem….all great answers thank you

If these are federal student loans, you may be eligible for income contingent payments. With this option, the lender/guarantor looks at your household income, household size and full loan indebtedness and can help you reduce your payments.

There are also deferment and forebearance programs for people with health issues, preschool aged children, are unemployed, etc.

If these are private or signature educational loans, you are stuck. There are no deferment and forebearance options available to you and you are very much at their mercy.

Good luck to you.
