What are the benifits of open university?

Apart from not having to get a huge student loan, the flexibility of it allowing you to still work and earn money as well, and getting a degree?

I have looked at the site but don’t seem to be able to find a list of the main benifits

It fits in your life style better. Each course will give you points. The points add up to a degree. The more courses you do, the quicker you earn points and the quicker you get your degree. So this means you can just do 1 low point course a year which would just take a few hours a week and after 5 or so years you can have a degree.

I knew a lecturer who wanted to kick some of the kids off the course because they’re weren’t up to it but he had to just give them extra work to get them through, which annoyed him, otherwise the University didn’t get full funding.

Because of this, I feel there’s more weight behind an OU degree because you paid for it and earned it. On the other hand, I am not knocking anyone else who went to uni and got a degree with a debt at the end of it, other than the OU method eliminates the problem explained above.
