military and student loan repayment?
I am looking for serious answers.
I read in army times about three weeks ago about something this is in effect or being thought of for helping those in the military pay back student loans. it was something about 10 years of service and they gave a # to call.
I cant find the article online and threw away the hard copy. dh’s student loans are outrageous for the amount he has. I am trying to find away to pay them down.
He was prior USMC for 7 years enlisted. Last Oct. he switched to Army WO. We specically asked when he signed his papers for a way to repay the loans. they said no. but now I hear it is different.
any help?
i do believe that you can only get the student loan repayment program when you first sign up as an enlisted person. if they told him no when he swtiched, then its most likely no. officers of any kind dont qualify for the repayment program (maybe because they make more?). it sucks but i think you are gonna have to repay them using just his pay.
