MOVING TO L.A. ON STUDENT VISA….etc (immigration, student loan)?

im planning on going to recording school in L.A. (im currently in UK) ……….the visa will be a M1.

- i want to stay in L.A. for some years after the course. how could I? i want like a general work permit, so i can work in whatever job i find after the course.
- say if i miss my visa return date. what would happen?
- where is the best place for an international student loan?

I cant get any financial aid from UK or USA i have been told. so its gonna have to be a loan.

Anyone know an immigration specialist?

thanks

1) If you wish to work in the United States upon completion of your course then you will have to find an employer to sponsor and petition you for a work visa, however to be eligible for an H1B (work visa) then you must possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and have 2-3 years work experience in the area of your degree.

Judging from your question, you are not studying for a Bachelor’s but for a vocational degree, hence the M1 visa instead of an F1.

2) If you overstay your visa then you run the risk of being deported, fined, jailed and/or banned from entering the United States for a period of 3 or 10 years, depending on the length of your overstay. You will also hinder any possible chance you may have of returning to the U.S. to work at a future date and being a permanent resident or a naturalized citizen of the United States.

3) There are no student loans available to you either in the U.S. or the U.K. – there are only personal loans, which you must obtain from the U.K. since all personal loans here require a permanent resident or citizen to act as a co-sponsor on the loan.

An immigration specialist will not be able to help you for your M1 visa.
