Question about student aid/loans in Canada (Manitoba particularly). Can I own a car and get aid 4 University?
I own a car, and currently owe money to the credit union for a loan, but I’ve been accepted to University in January, and I’ve been told that it doesn’t matter than I already have some debt, I can still apply for financial aid. I’m just wondering if I can still own my car, or will I need to sell it before I apply for a student loan?
no, you do not have to sell your car. If it is a very expensive car then its value will impact on your funding but if you sell it then you have cash savings — so either way, the best thing is not to sell
