What can I do if I want to go back to school after messing up my student financial aid status?
Life hit me really hard, death of my family, being assaulted, been homeless, and now trying to get my feet back up. The government was garnishing me left and right when I was employed. Its been real hard to find a job because my credit is really messed up even more with the student loans on it. I really want to go back to school and finish my last year of college. Any suggestions?
I assume you are in default on your student loans. You will need to contact your lender and set up a satisfactory payment plan with them. With some lenders, you can make six consecutive payments for 6 months and they possibly will remove those loans out of default allowing you to borrow again. As it is right now, you are not eligible to borrow any student loans if you are in default.
Take the chance in contacting the lender. It may take some time to become eligible again but the outcome of you finishing and cleaning up your credit is so worth it.
Good Luck
