can a student loan ever be discharged if I am on disability?

Sorry, “Sallie Mae” is an a**hole. Once they think they can get away with it, the loan is passed off to a special collection agency that is owned and operated by … drum roll please …. Sallie Mae!
Repayment SHOULD be based on income, but it isn’t. We have to wait until after the next election cycle to see if there is any sense applied to people in your situation.
But, for now, it looks like default is all-around bad.
