Questions about getting a divorce in California?

My husband and I want to get a divorce. No kids. No joint properties. We’ve only been married for about 10 months now. We are basically taking our stuff (cars, etc) that we brought before the marriage. We do have some separate student loans that we are separately paying off. We already discussed and decided these issues.

Question #1: can we just leave the property section blank as basically have no property or debts to consider in relation to the divorce?

Question #2: I have a job offer in another state that is a bit far away. If I accept the offer, it will start in about 2 weeks. I want to know how many court appearances, etc. to make during the entire divorce process if the case is uncontested?
I would hate to fly back and forth from the other state that I intend to move, that would be too costly w/ flight/hotel/rental car. Also, I wouldn’t want to take a lot of time off from work as it would jeopardize my chance of getting a promotion, etc.

Thanks in advance!

If you don’t have any significant property (real estate etc) or kids together and uncontested, you will not have to make any court appearances. All you have to do is to file for the divorce, leave the parts that don’t apply blank, and it will automatically be granted after six months. The 6-month cooling off period was put in place for people in case they “cooled down” and changed their mind.

I believe the application is available online also and the cost is around $250 or so. It’s pretty hassle-free.

Good luck with your new life!
