what are all the expenses for student living on campus in the university?
and what are the sources of finance for students. Eg student loan, grant, how much does students receive in a year?
You’ll get your:
Tuition fees paid for you each year. However, you don’t see that money, it gets paid straight to your university.
You get a loan for your rent ONLY each year.
That goes into your bank account in THREE separate installments:
September – £900ish
January – £900ish
April – £900ish
And a grant (which you don’t have to pay back, ever). The maximum is around £2800. Which is assess by your parents income, so you may get less as they are expected to give you money in that case. This money is to live off. Books, nights out, clothes, FOOD, toiletries, everything!
This is also paid to you in three separate installments on the same day your loan (above) is.
It’s up to you to pay for your rent yourself and to live off the grant money until the next installment. If you can’t, you’ll have a get a job.
Some universities offer grants to students based on income as well, but that’s subject to them and I cannot speak for all.
You’ll get that each year and each year, in the same fashion. Tuition fees paid and three installments. Although you have to re-apply every year.
So after three years, you’ll owe roughly about £18 500.
You have to wait until February to apply. But they’re usually done pretty quickly and with no problems if you send all the right evidence off to them.
AND it costs whatever it costs you to live really. You can shop for enough food for around £10/ £15 a week. But all your other expenses such as clothes, going out etc. is up to you.
It’s completely up to you to manage your finances.
Hope that helped!
