if I’m married, will the army pay off my wife’s student loans if I join?
I am married, have no student loans, but my wife has 60,000 in student loans, if I enlist, will the army pay off her loans or does it only apply to me?
No they will not, they will only pay Federal student loans of the person who is enlisted/commissioned. If it is a private loan it will not be repaid, nor if it is a loan for the spouse. If you qualify for a bonus you can use that to pay it off, but the bonus wil not be paid until after you have completed AIT. Sometimes getting a loan repayment isn’t the best decision as the GI Bill is better in the long run.
