Cost of Living Brussels?
I have been accepted into ULB to do postgraduate studies.
I have managed to get a loan from the UK for £10,000 which works out to about 11,364 euros. The course is 2 years in length so I know I only have enough for one year.
What would you say is a reasonable budget for groceries for students? I have heard estimates between 100-300 euros per month.
Also I only speak english, I guess that excludes me from finding any work in Brussels, at least at first, right?
Any help would be much appreciated.
I think 100-300 EUR will do for the groceries.. It depends a lot on what kind of supermarkets you go to and if you go to the university restaurants a lot. I spent very little on groceries when I was a student… left me more for beer 
A “kot” (student room or appartment) will kost you between 200 and 400 EUR a month.
And about finding a job… I think Brussels is multicultiral enough for you to find a student job even speaking only English. I guess the ULB even has an office that helps you finding a student job. Besides, there are lots of Irish and English pubs (especially near the EU institutions) where the waiters don’t speak a word of French or Dutch…
