How do student loans work in Canada if you live in one Province but go to University in another?
I live in Ontario and am interested in a University in Nova Scotia. Would my Ontario loan apply to me even though i am out of province?
If you are using OSAP for your loans, then it should, but it depends how long you’ve been living in Ontario for and everything else. You would probably not be applicable for NS loans unless you have lived there. You could apply for OSAP and then if you do go to the NS school, they should have a Canadian national loans centre set up where students can bring their student loans to get them verified and put in their bank account, even if they’re from out of province.
Your best bet would be to talk to your high school guidance counselor, or call OSAP or whoever else you are getting your loan from and make sure you can receive OSAP and use it for a school in another province.
