Why can’t I get on to this website?

I keep trying to log onto studentfinance.direct.gov.uk to apply for student loans. But it keeps crashing! And now it’s saying;

“Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to secure.studentfinance.direct.gov.uk.

SSL peer was not expecting a handshake message it received.

(Error code: ssl_error_handshake_unexpected_alert)

* The page you are trying to view can not be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

* Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site.”

My internet connection is fine. Why is this happening? How can I solve this? Thanks! :)

SSL stands for SECURED SOCKET LAYER ..

it is used to make sites secured especially where you make payments on a certain sites .. this feature is used by sites to enable secured payment on their websites

so naturally ..the problem you are facing is not from your end or your machine .. it is the problem with the website .. check it out sometime later .. hope it gets resolved .. or email them on their contact email informing them about the problem …

also make sure tht if u made payment on their site .. thn money is not deducted form your account … coz if it has .. thn u need to inform this to them .. as m sure u wont have recieved the payment confirmation if this error occured
