I can’t get student loan for my university fees due to previous study. Does anyone know of any other funding?

I live in England, studying in Wales and am a mature student. I would be very grateful for your help.

It depends on how much you need really, is it for fees, living expenses, materials etc.

Unless you can get a scholarship or help from the university, you are unlikely to get any government loan or grant for uni, however, many banks now offer career development loans. this has a very low interest rate and payments can be deferred until the end of your course. The subject you are taking will need to relevant to a career though so you may not qualify if you are studying something like History or English but most other subjects will do.

The government have also promised for 09-10 to offer free tuition to students who do not take out a student loan. (designed for students staying at home rather than moving in to halls) maybe this would be an option for you?

Alternatively, you can always study part time at most unis while you work to pay your fees or go through to open university, They have their own funding criteria and you may get more assistance from them.

Good Luck
