Student loan without a cosigner?

I’m 18, have never gotten a loan before, and as far as I know have never done anything having to do with credit. My parents have cut me off and refuse to cosign a loan for me. My next school semester starts in late January and I have been applying at as many places as I can find online, and I’m never approved because I need a cosigner. I’m independent.

How can I get a student loan without a cosigner? (FAFSA won’t work either. They declined me last year because according to them my parents make too much money.) I need this by the end of the month.

The first step would be to fill out the FAFSA *again*, this time claiming independence (don’t include your parents’ info!)

Then, talk to your counselor about your options- they’ll be in the best position to give advice in this case.

Unfortunately, most loans outside of federal aid will require a cosigner…

(This is a really touchy topic for me- a couple years ago my parents cut me off one semester into my college education for no apparent reason…I had no clue what to do….I considered the military for a short time, but that’s really not me, so I scrapped that idea pretty quickly. I ended up going to community college for a couple semesters, and now I’m taking a break from school just working to build up my credit and save money so when I decide to go back to school I’ll have more options… :[ )

SO… G/L!

Hopefully your counselor will be able to come up with some amazing last minute solution. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you!
