single parent studying full time at college and benefits?

i am a single parent i am working but am thinking of giving up work to go college full time. But i have 4 young kids and im so worried about my income but feel i need to go college to better myself, you know the saying ’speculate to accumalate’.
But people keep putting me off saying if i go college full time i wont be able to claim benefits i have to live on grants then i wont get housing benefit if i get grants. I thought this only applied to people going uni. somebody help me i just want to better myself for my children

Wow..
I’m in the same position that you’re in, but with 2 kids.

I don’t have any idea about the grants. I do know that in Missouri, a few of my friends are going to a community college that have kids (I’m about to do that as well) but they living in housing and get benefits as well. So, I’m not for sure if that’s right or not. I would contact your school about that.

As for bettering yourself.. congrats. I have my step-father telling me all the time how selfish I’m being for wanting to go to school and better myself. I think it’s the right thing to do, and the way i see it, if they want to be mad about someone going to get their education to get a better paying job…. let em be.
Congrats and I encurage you to do what you feel is right!
