Are there lawyers that are satisfied with their profession?

I am a woman of 29 years who recently graduated college (with honors well) and I am applying to law school. I have an average LAST score, so I'm a little worried about admissions. However, my main hesitation is that I'll be happy. As much as I want to be a lawyer (my life), and I think I might be good at it, I talk to so many unfortunate student loan, burdoned lawyers. Please help. Share your thoughts, both lawyers women and men …

I am a 36-Year Old Man, with a family. I am a graduate the law school a year ago, and I work in the Appellate Division of the State Attorney General's office. I recommend working as a government Counsel for the following reasons: The hours are normal (I put in no more than 40 hours per week, and I'm never in the office on weekends), the benefits are excellent (especially if you have a family), work is demanding, and you can get a great experience right now (I had my own case load on the first day and were the court about a dozen times to argue cases in my first year). The downside is that I probably earns half of what some of my friends are making in large private enterprises. It ends up being just enough to support my family, but I expect to pay my loans Students 30 years. (No joke). Overall, however, I think it's a good compromise. Being a new lawyer in private practice (especially large) often means long hours, work, and little or no autonomy dull. So much depends on your motivation. Judging by your concern – happiness – I'd say you're not motivated by $. However, I think you're more likely to find meaningful work in the public sector or nonprofit profit. You should be aware, however, that work for non-profits (such as legal aid) will pay even less than I do, and may pay so little that you can not afford to take such a position if you have a heavy student loan debt:. In addition, a note of caution that many people go to law school these days, and I would say it is probably not more than one-quarter to one third of my graduating class had obtained positions upon graduation. I think that within a year, that number has probably increased by more than half, but just be aware that the field Legal increasingly competitive. The better you do in school, the more options you have when you get: Netherlands. Follow your heart line. If you really known all your life you want to be a lawyer, then you will not be happy doing anything else until you've at least tried. Good luck.
