Loan Forgiveness Program – Is it too late?

I got my Masters in English in 2003, teaching a large university in an adjunct position. Now, with my student loan balance, I want to take jobs in the public and qualify for loan forgiveness (Obama's new program), which includes teachers. I am now 64 years old, work full time, have not intention to withdraw up to 69 or 70 years. I am completely discouraged by the profession, given the number of redundancies and lack of funding in education for 2010-2011. I can not help but wonder if its even worth trying to return to education. However, I want to pay my student loan and benefit from the loan forgiveness program. I worked all my life, so have significant social security and a 401K.

loan forgiveness program for Obama for people with jobs in public service is only available for loans made after October 1, 2007 and after only This person has made 120 payments. (10 years after they begin to repay) so unless you plan to return to school and borrowing more money, this program would not apply to you.
