Can someone make me feel better about my student loan debt?
I am in graduate school now for school psychology. When I am all done I will have around $50-60K in federal stafford loan debt and an additional $25K in private loans. A total of around $75-80K in debt.
I will be making from $45k-55k per year the first 5 years or so after I graduate.
I’ll probably have to do the 10 year IRB repayment plan with loan forgiveness for working in a public sector. However, so my federal loan payments may not be huge and I will get a large amount forgiven. However, i’ll have to pay off my private loans in addition…which will probably be another $500 per month or more.
After federal and state income taxes rape my paychecks….there wont be a lot left.
Can someone who has or is going through this please reassure me somehow. Will I ever be able to get a damn home loan? Or am I doomed to a cheap ass apartment for 10 years with no family or kids?
It all depends on what you want to get out of it. Check out my financial aid blog for more financial advice info and more useful ideas
