Filing of tax and student tuition in Canada, really confused?
I did my taxes a month ago and now My father is filing his. And he asked me questions about my tuition. My tuition was around 5300 and apparently I could not transfer it to my parents because he was over 5k. Thus, when the person has HR block my taxes, I received $ 600 without insert the amount of my tuition. And then, after setting tuition that I received $ 130 in return. Why is it that even if I am loan, I pay taxes to pay my tuition? I am very confused and I called HR block, but the Guy confuses me even more. The guy did my taxes … it took 1.5 hours and another woman named later. The woman told me that my tuition will be deferred to the year next. Can someone please explain to me … or tell me who I can talk about it?
As usual, H & R Blockheads provide support more blatently incorrect information. You may transfer up to $ 5,000 for your parents. The additional $ 300 can be transferred a future year. Get H & R Block to reverse the deposit and refund your money. They are useless. You may file in www.quicktax.ca free as a student.
